On the occasion of World Cancer Day on 4 February, we wish to highlight our commitment and support for the numerous actions carried out by the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Balearic Islands throughout the year, which we actively join OK Mobility.
For 2024, we would like to highlight the initiative carried out by the Association in the schools in Menorca. This programme aims to disseminate science through talks and workshops, bring research closer to society, and generate scientific vocation among young people to raise awareness of what science can and will do in the fight against cancer. Thanks to the workshops led by the organisation's "Volunteers for Science," more than 700 pupils from the island took part in this programme last year.
As the first "Active Company Against Cancer", we have joined other initiatives, such as "Mallorca on the Move Against Cancer" , to continue supporting people with cancer and their families and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the OK Team members. The streets of Palma welcomed hundreds of runners who participated in the 8-kilometre Open Race and the 4-kilometre Popular Walk.
We also collaborate with the Association in decorating the Son Espases and Son Llàtzer hospitals in Palma de Mallorca last Christmas, filling the areas of Haematology, Oncology, and Radiology with colour and hope. To achieve this, we organised a decoration workshop at our Headquarters, during which our OK Team actively participated, creating handicrafts that have brightened the hospitals and provided a warm atmosphere for patients and their families.
In addition, OK Mobility is committed to the health and well-being of its teams. To this end, we have promoted the "Quit Smoking" project, which was developed in collaboration with the Association and taught by its professionals. Over the course of nine sessions, OK Team participants received the necessary support to quit smoking, and we are proud to share that three people have managed to quit smoking thanks to this initiative.
At OK Mobility, we continue to reaffirm our commitment to the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Balearic Islands, supporting their initiatives and contributing to the fight against cancer through awareness, mobility, and the well-being of our community.
